Simulation Displays Ltd is a wholly owned division of Paradigm Audio Visual Ltd. Paradigm has been a successful player in the simulation and reality markets since 1995. Strong growth since 2008 now results in this business having its own new identity. We launched on 10 May 2011 at the ITEC exhibition in Cologne.

We started simulation projects in the mid-1990s, designing several rear projection caves (or rear projection ‘tents’ as our clients often call them) for DERA (the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency of the UK’s Ministry of Defence) for the Eurofighter Typhoon project. Through their change into QinetiQ and subsequent relocations to Farnborough, the caves have been further developed and utilised ever since.

Our clients are mostly simulation and virtual reality companies, simulation and reality OEMs, academic establishments and specialist resellers. We do not provide complete solutions but specialise in the display elements – therefore we are usually seen as a vital team member. As we have advanced project management abilities, plus a reputation for friendly professionalism, this seems to be a successful formula. Transparency is another attribute of ours and we even work on open books basis with some trusted partner clients.

Our design, prototype, manufacture and test facilities are here in Bedford, UK. You purchase maximum quality at minimum cost. We have advanced parametric 3D CAD workstations, plus decades of experience and IP that drive it. Bring us a display requirement or problem and we will solve it for you.

We are also releasing low-cost versions of many of our products, plus other innovative new low-cost products. In the same way that VBS2 has revolutionised battlefield training, we are applying similar principles to simulation hardware and virtual reality hardware.

Whether you need a component such as a mirror or image blending or a complete display including screens, projectors and blending we are your direct source.

Our founding director, Greg Jeffreys, uses his academic work in specification and assessment of delivered image quality. Greg wrote the section on projected images for University of Manchester’s post-graduate degree in Sustainable Electrical Building Services; he was a task group member for the almost-completed ANSI Standard Projected Image System Contrast Ratio. The related best practice papers and Excel worksheets can be downloaded from the main Paradigm site This informs much of Paradigm’s work.

Paradigm has a reputation for two often-overlooked specialisms. We have facilities and systems for setting client expectation levels: demonstrating what you can really expect to see on your delivered system. We will work to proper system perform criteria and metrics to allow systems to be signed off without subjectivity.
