ETSA held the inaugural meeting for the R&D Initiatives 2017 last week. The Members representatives at the meeting were very enthusiastic and came up with some great ideas of how we can go forward with these initiatives.
“A fantastic initiative to harness T&S expertise from academia, through SMEs to large industrial players for the benefit of all” – Mike Jump, Liverpool University “
…”extremely well received and attended by a dynamic group of the most respected names at the leading edge of the Training and Simulation industry” – Phil Pauley, Pauley Interactive
As well as agreeing to work with ETSA and fellow ETSA Members to address known calls for R&D funding from external bodies, the representatives were unanimous in agreeing that ETSA should also be lobbying Government Agencies and other funding authorities.
ETSA undertook to endeavour, on behalf of all its Members and the general MS&T Community, to get the correct message to these funding bodies to ensure that they award R&D funding for those MS&T areas where End-users, Industry and Academia feel that it is really needed.
If you know of, or feel that you have, any problem or challenging areas where external funding of R&D projects would be advantageous to either your organisation, or to other end-users/industry/academia within the MS&T Community, we would like you to get in touch with ETSA.
So, as discussed at the meeting, could you please forward to me a short paragraph on up to three areas where you think R&D funding should be directed. Please give me (email@example.com) a description of the area(s) needing funding and some reasons why an external agency should fund you/us to do the work.
We will then put together all your ideas and work out a strategy and plan for ETSA to lobby the funding bodies.
